Weight Loss

Why Lose Weight

The Health Survey for England 2019 estimates that 28.0% of adults in England are obese and a further 36.2% are overweight but not obese (https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk) This equates to just under 3/4 of the population - a staggering figure.

It is understandable then that slimming clubs in the UK are big business. Whilst these obviously work well for some people, it is clear that they are not the answer for everyone.

It's very important to take steps to tackle obesity because, as well as causing obvious physical changes, it can lead to a number of serious and potentially life-threatening conditions.

These include:

  • Type 2 diabetes

  • Coronary heart disease

  • Some types of cancers

  • Stroke

Obesity can also affect your quality of life and lead to psychological problems, such as depression and low self-esteem.
